Nestled in the Northside is a blossoming community theatre group. UpStage Theatre formed in early 2023 and has continued to grow from strength to strength, producing quality, affordable theatre across the suburbs.
Performing in various venues and collaborating with other theatre groups, they ensure productions have the right spaces and the "bells and whistles" to bring stories to life.
From Sherlock Holmes to Blackadder, and to brand-new, exciting productions, their most recent show was an Australian premiere of a New Zealand playwright. Coven on Grey Street by Jamie Cain reimagined the Weird Sisters from Macbeth, bringing them into the modern world as they live quietly in Moreton Bay.
With romance, conflict, and magic, the production was brought to life by a talented team from Mousetrap and UpStage.
The show featured music by GMX, including "One in a Million" and "I Believe in You," giving the production its own memorable theme songs.
As with all great plots, there was a twist — and revenge was inevitable. Ted was set to marry Daphne, but Sybil and Fay were jealous, worried the coven was coming to an end, and determined to ruin it.
